music for 2010

It's Australia Day. This means very little to me other than we get a day off work and then have to spend the day avoiding bogans who suddenly appear everywhere at all costs.

The one thing Australia Day does mean to me is that it's also Triple J's Hottest 100 day. The past few years we've spent the long weekend down in Foster eating freshly baked bread and blueberries the size of tom-bowler marbles with Gippsland cream listening to the best music of the past 12 months. We haven't gone down this year as the friend whose family property it is has just flown back from OS and my little bookworm has more work than he can poke a stick at.

Anyway, here are my votes for Triple J's Hottest 100. All my favourite singles from the past year in the one place- how very nice indeed.

Ben Folds/Nick Hornby - From Above

Clare Bowditch & The New Slang - Modern Day Addiction

Darwin Deez - Radar Detector

Dead Weather, The - Blue Blood Blues

Grizzly Bear - And I Was A Boy From School {Like A Version}

Janelle Monae - Tightrope {Ft. Big Boi}

Mark Ronson & The Business Intl - Bang Bang Bang {Ft. Q-Tip & MNDR}

Mark Ronson & The Business Intl - Somebody To Love Me {Ft. Boy George & Andrew Wyatt}

Professor Green - Just Be Good To Green {Ft. Lily Allen}

Dead Weather, The - Die By The Drop

If you're interested, check out my picks from 2009.

  1. Hi Jenny, hope you had a lovely day off! Thank you so much for the tdf post it put a big smile on my face this morning. I couldn't agree more with your musical selections here too likewise the bogans, it's the same in Hobart. I would love to make you some little bunting if you would like? I think I have some triangles left over : )
